Pulse Jet Dust Collector

Bag-filter dust collectors with reverse pulse jet cleaning, plus cyclones and multicyclones for heavy dust loads.

Our pulse jet dust collectors are fabricated in mild steel, or in a non-corrosive material where the dust being collected calls for it. They are used to take dust off process exhaust, material handling points and similar sources before the air is released or recirculated.

Where the dust loading is heavy, a cyclone or multicyclone is the usual first stage. We build these as well, and they can be combined with a bag filter when a higher level of cleaning is needed.

How it works

Dust-laden air is drawn through filter media. The dust stays on the surface of the media and the cleaned air leaves through the outlet.

The media is stitched in the form of tubes (filter bags). As dust builds up, it is removed either by manual or mechanical shaking, or by self-cleaning with a reverse pulse of compressed air.

In a pulse jet unit the bags are cleaned row by row while the remaining bags keep filtering. A sequence controller operates solenoid and pulse valves that direct the air into the manifolds. The holes are jig-drilled so that each one lines up with the venturi centre, which is what gives the pulse its cleaning effect.

Types and configurations

Pulse jet bag filterAutomatic row-by-row cleaning with sequence controller, solenoid and pulse valves.
Shaker typeManual or mechanical shaking of the filter media.
Cyclone and multicycloneFor heavy dust loading. Low maintenance and running cost.
Wet collector and scrubberFor dust together with toxic gases or fumes. Used in chemical, food and pharmaceutical plants.
Rotary air lock valveAvailable on all our dust collectors for dust discharge.

Features

  • Filter media: acrylic polyester, polyester needle felt, polypropylene, nylon and terylene
  • Antistatic provision made depending on the application

Maintenance

  • Filter bags are consumables. The life of a bag depends on the dust, temperature and moisture, so we will ask about these when we discuss your requirement.
  • A pulse jet unit needs a clean, dry compressed air supply at the right pressure for the pulse valves to work properly.
  • Dust discharge (hopper, rotary air lock valve or screw) should be checked regularly so the hopper does not fill up and choke the bags.
  • A rising pressure drop across the filter is the usual sign that bags need attention.
