Ventilation and cooling
Evaporative Cooling System
Air washer type evaporative coolers, factory assembled, for large halls where air conditioning is not economical.
Our evaporative cooling systems, also called air washers, clean the air and bring down its temperature using the evaporative cooling principle. They are used in pharmaceutical, food, textile and automotive industries and in auditoriums.
The air washers are factory assembled and come complete with water piping, water tank, float valve, strainer and receiver valves.
How it works
Air is passed through wetted media or a water spray. As the water evaporates it absorbs heat from the air, and the air leaves cooler and cleaner.
Evaporative cooling works best where the outside air is not very humid, and it adds moisture to the air. It is therefore not a substitute for air conditioning where tight temperature and humidity control is needed, but for large areas it costs much less to install and run.
Typical arrangement
General layout for this type of equipment. The final arrangement depends on your plant.
- Outside air
- Wetted media / air washer
- Fan
- Ducting
- Cooled area
Types and configurations
| Air washer | Factory assembled with water piping, water tank, float valve, strainer and receiver valves. |
|---|---|
| With pressurised ventilation | Can be combined to cool pressurised work areas. |
Features
- Cost-effective for large areas compared with air conditioning
Maintenance
- Water quality matters. The tank and media should be drained and cleaned regularly to avoid scaling and growth.
- The float valve and strainer should be checked for proper operation.
Often specified with
- Pressurised Ventilation SystemFiltered air supply that keeps the room at a higher pressure than outside, so dust cannot enter.
- Industrial Ventilation SystemVentilation systems that remove hot and toxic air from the working area and bring in fresh air.
- Air Handling Unit (AHU)AHUs with GI or CRC body, centrifugal fan, coil and filter section, in single or double skin construction.
